119 victims of armed conflict were compensated in Putumayo
Victims' Unit advanced its process of delivery of compensation letters in southwestern Colombia, with an investment of close to $ 620 million.
The professional team of the Victims Unit in Putumayo put forward a massive day of letters of compensation to the victim population of the Amazon region.
During this occasion, 119 survivors achieved to obtain the economic resources as one of the measures of reparation after the effects caused by armed conflict.
That was the case of Alba Mejía, a displaced woman from Siberia who currently lives in the municipality of Sibundoy, and after learning that she and her son would receive the compensation letter, they began to plan how to set up their own business.
"Our intention is to put a deal to survive better, because I am 60 years old and I cannot work. I am happy with the compensation, because my son who worked suffered an accident and lost his hand, now the idea is that we both manage the business".
Another story of life that will achieve a change is María Criollo, victim of displacement from the Village Mira Valle, who at 47 years old and two children who are her motor, plans to make her best investment: to acquire her own home. "Together with my children we want the house and that is the pleasure that I want to give them. I thank the Unit and everyone for helping us and keeping us in mind".
The event, held at the Putumayo Technological Institute, was attended by representatives of Municipal Table of Victims, Colpensiones, the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (Icbf), Sena and the Mocoa Health Secretariat. In the space occupied by the Icbf, ludic and pintucaritas activities were carried out for the children present at the day.
