Municipalities of Magdalena Medio will implement plans for returns and relocations, hand in hand with the Victims Unit

The main objective of these conferences was to review and adjust the plans for returns and relocations, already approved, in twelve municipalities of Magdalena Medio, and thus be able to advance in their implementation.

For two days officials of Victims Unit Territorial Directorate in Magdalena Medio, carried out works of institutional approach for the revision and adjustments of Plans of Returns and Relocations, of twelve municipalities of this area of ​​the country.

The main objective of these conferences was to review, adjust and focus on projects submitted by different territorial entities in their plans for returns and relocations and that, in order to comply with said implementation, they do not have technical and financial capacities.

For this reason, the Return and Relocation Group of the Victims Unit is working through the technical assistance methodology to review and adjust the municipalities that already have approved return and relocation plans, based on the premise that guarantee the rights that allow progress in overcoming the situation of vulnerability of people and communities contemplated in these plans.

Additionally, with these municipalities the institutional approach exercise was carried out, proposing on the part of the Victims Unit, the lines of action to make investment this year in overcoming the situation of vulnerability of these communities.

The municipalities of Magdalena Medio that can access this offer are, by Bolívar: Norosí, Morales, Santa Rosa del Sur, São Paulo and Simití; For Santander: Sabana de Torres, Landázuri, Puerto Wilches and Barrancabermeja, and for Antioquia: Puerto Berrío and Yondó.

Some of the examples of projects that were reviewed and adjusted, and to which, according to the requirements, the Victims Unit will provide a significant resource, are framed in the lines of: provision, improvement, construction or adaptation of schools, centers of health, communal halls, as well as days of community integration, support for the formation of Community Action Boards, improvement of roads and transports, such as the construction of plaques, footprints and paving.

The Territorial Director of Victims Unit in Magdalena Medio, Amparo Chicué Cristancho, said that "it is important to highlight that the Victims Unit in order to advance in these processes of overcoming the situation of vulnerability points to this class of projects contemplated in the plans of returns and relocations already approved, in the case of endowment delivery and adaptation of schools, is carried out in order to mitigate the risk that Children and Adolescents are subject to the use and recruitment by group and illegal organizations".

At the same time these adjustments are aimed at contributing to projects that ensure the generation of income to improve employment situations in the communities, in this case supporting the creation of production yards, home gardens, poultry, livestock, agricultural, pig, silvopastoral.

In addition, Chichué asserted that "as an entity at the national level, the Victims Unit wants to take a step forward, because in addition to the legal responsibility of assisting and technically accompanying the territorial entities in construction and formulation of Return and Relocation Plans, we also want to support in the implementation, with important resources and that respond to the needs that each one of these municipalities has".
