Christmas arrived early for children victims of the armed conflict in Bogota

Jesus arrived early this Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 December for the families victims of the armed conflict who live in Bogota, thanks to the delivery of gifts and recreation activities that the Victims Unit organized in the capital of Colombia.

Christmas started before the date in Bosa and Ciudad Bolivar, some poor neighborhoods in Bogota. More than 200 families affected by the armed conflict received gifts, motivation speeches and leisure activities for kids, organized by the Victims Unit.

Smiles, clowns, games and a lot of fun encouraged the children in both places, which historically have received thousands of survivors of Colombian armed conflict.

“What we pretended was to give the victims some motivation to continue with their process of reparation, to move forward and have fun in the Christmas season”, said Jorge Sanchez, director of the Central Division of the Victims Unit.

The Christmas gifts included also some kits with the basic market basket, with the support of the foundation Voces Construyendo.

From the 200 families, each hundred belonged to each neighborhood.
