With symbolic and cultural events, Bogotá commemorated the International Day of the Disappeared
Performances 'Grammatical Bodies' and 'Souvenir' were some of the activities developed during Tuesday in Bogota.
The International Day of the Disappeared was commemorated in Bogotá through the activity called 'Grammatical Bodies', in which several people took the initiative to be ‘planted’ on earth, for four hours at the site where the National Museum of Memory will be built.
According to Janeth Bautista, sister of Nidia Erika Bautista (disappeared on August 30, 1987), "we hope that with the peace process forced disappearances are finally eradicated and that the State finally seriously look for our loved ones."
When referring to the symbolic act Bautista noted that "Grammatical Bodies means turning seed, means that we give fruits and flowers for the peace that is coming and that victims want truth and justice".
Carlos Ojeda, member of the Fasol organization (Solidarity with the Judges of the Colombian Judiciary) and victim of the conflict, said that "today is an act of remembrance for the more than 45,000 missing we have in the country."
Simultaneously, the opening of the play "Souvenir" took place in Hotel Boutique City Center in Bogota, with artist Sair García. In the event attended by members of the National Movement of Victims of State Crimes (Movice) and Otras Voces (the Association Other Voices). According to Constanza Ramírez, from the organization Other Voices, the association works to accompany relatives of victims of forced disappearance and is active in seeking a symbolic reparation. "This is an act of memory," Ramírez said. He added that "the work will be exhibited in the Attorney General's Office for two weeks so that the common people find this piece of work and become aware."
