After the extension of the Victims' Law, several challenges must be assumed that allow its implementation: Ramón Rodríguez

The director of the Victims Unit said that one of them and the largest will be to obtain the resources to comply with the extension for 10 more years.

After Congress approved the bill that extends the Victims and Land Restitution Law for 10 years, the director of the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to Victims Ramón Alberto Rodríguez Andrade assured that the challenges facing the implementation in the new validity of this regulation. "The first thing is that you have to seek the articulation of the Comprehensive System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition, with Law 1448 and its decrees," he explained.

Ramón Rodríguez said that another of the challenges that remain after the approval of this initiative is “the strengthening and how we can articulate the great National System of Attention and Integral Reparation to Victims (SNARIV) that is made up of more than 57 entities, so that it gives response with the institutional offer to which the victims are entitled and which they have requested so much”.

The director of the entity revealed that the biggest challenge will be to obtain the resources to comply with the extension: “This exercise we are doing as a Victims Unit with the Department of National Planning, with the Ministry of Finance and what we seek to initially guarantee the implementation of the Law in these 10 years, and we are reviewing how much the budget of this document will support it”.

“We are also looking for additional resources and the resources that are the product of the goods delivered by the perpetrators of both the Justice and Peace Law, and those of the Peace Agreement, signed between the Government and the FARC. we hope that the delivery of financial resources will be consolidated to be able to repair the victims”, concluded the director of the Unit.
