Building a better country and exercising their rights: those are the main interests showed by 36 leaders who are older persons and victims of the conflict. Participants represent victims over 60 affected by the internal armed conflict, and talked about their experiences and the damages lived.

‘Older persons have a lot to say. Contrary what people think, we are productive and have historical memory. We are working so as the younger do not have the same country we did,’ said María Tila Uribe, expert in ageing processes.

‘They (older persons) claim for their rights and a social space. Moreover, within the framework of the peace process, they have a lot to contribute with to a new country,’ said Gabriel Bustamante, who is in charge of Participation in the Victims Unit.
