The Victims Unit participates in Colombia at the Fourth Meeting of the Expert Group on Statistics on Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (EGRIS, for its acronym in English), which takes place in Kampala, Uganda, until December 6.

The main theme of the meeting is the discussion of indicators to measure progress towards durable solutions for internal displacement in the world.

This workspace is part of the global platform where better statistics and better coordination are recommended in the global response to 40 million internally displaced persons, which is recorded in the Global Internal Displacement Report (2018) and the 25 million refugees in the country. world according to UNHCR.

The Victims Unit is a member of the Expert Group on Statistics on Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons since 2016 and contributes in the construction of an International Manual of Recommendations on Statistics on Internal Displacement.

This document will be supported by the United Nations Statistical Commission and is aligned with the development of the Indicators for the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the 2030 Global Agenda.

Colombia participates together with delegations from Bosnia Herzegovina, Cote d'Ivoire, Georgia, the Kurdistan region in Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia, Uganda and Ukraine, Colombia, and representatives of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Statistical Division, the World Observatory on Internal Displacement (IDMC), and the Interagency Service for the Characterization of the Displaced Population (JIPS).
