
Stanford students learn about victims reparation
Students from the American university received training on the care provided by the Victims' Unit to the survivors of the armed conflict in Colombia.




In order to discuss academically the mission and the challenges of the implementation of the national policy of integral reparation for victims of the armed conflict in Colombia, a group of students from Stanford University (United States) met with officials of the Unit for Victims.
The students, who arrived in the country as part of an academic exchange, received training on the Mission of the entity, the challenges for the implementation of the Victims Law, the registration and assessment process for the inclusion in the Victims' Registry and about Repair.
According to the Unit's International Cooperation Department, the academic day also addressed issues such as the need to strengthen the income generation policy to overcome the conditions of vulnerability of the victims, involving the private sector more to generate productive linkages, recruitment and inclusion in the value chain of projects related to the stabilization and consolidation of peace in the areas most affected by the violence.
The cooperation officials explained to the students the mission of the Victims Unit, how the process is and the reparation route to the victims, and the importance of implementing the processes of return, relocation and local integration in coordination with the authorities. local.
In the same way, the students learned about issues such as the registration and management of information, and asked about other cross-cutting issues such as the Human Rights situation.
