In Montería a light was lit for the peace of Colombia
Within the framework of the National Human Rights Day and the Week for Peace, the Córdoba Territorial Unit for Victims participated in the symbolic act led by the municipal Administration.
Complying with all the biosecurity protocols established by the national government, the Córdoba Territorial Directorate of the Victims Unit joined the commemoration of the National Human Rights Day and the Week for Peace, in conjunction with the Mayor's Office of Montería.
With a message of hope and commitment, the territorial director of the Unit, Mareila Burgos, participated in this symbolic act highlighting the entity's work: “Peace is reconciliation, it is a guarantee of non-repetition, that is why from the Unit we contribute to the peacebuilding, making the victims' rights effective and helping them to advance in all the processes they require”.
Week for Peace is a citizen mobilization whose main objective is to make visible the daily effort of thousands of people who work in the construction and consolidation of peace, and of initiatives that dignify life 2020 marks 33 years of the realization of the Week for Peace by the Catholic Church, strengthening social awareness about "the urgency of building a plural, participatory and lasting peace process in Colombia, with the aim of reconciliation national".
The symbolic act was also attended by representatives of the Metropolitan Police, Carlos Ordosgoitia, mayor of Montería, Antonella Vega, social manager of the municipality and Piedad Julio, social leader of victims.
