With telephone service sessions, the Unit assists victims in Santander
Attention to victims is focused by municipalities and aims to avoid face-to-face procedures in times of confinement.
In times of pandemic and social isolation due to COVID-19, the Santander Territorial Directorate of the Victims Unit has been conducting telephone assistance sessions for victims of conflict in the Santander municipalities of Lebrija, Aratoca and San Vicente de Chucurí.
The activities are developed in coordination with the municipal administrations through their victims' liaison, and the authorities of each locality.
Among the most frequent requirements are requests for humanitarian aid, guidance needs regarding responses to administrative acts, progress in the compensation process, and advice related to supply, especially on housing and education issues.
“As a Municipality, we articulate with the Unit to be able to attend to the victims of conflict, we prepare the sessions, we make them known through the community station and WhatsApp groups that have been created to disseminate information of interest; we register people who are interested in receiving information on aspects that we do not know, we do so with the help of the legal representatives and the leaders of the victims' table”, said Gloria Monsalve, municipal liaison for victims in Lebrija.
These conference calls have effectively reached 200 inhabitants of the aforementioned municipalities, providing specialized advice regarding their requirements in a timely, effective manner and without having to leave their homes.
