Indigenous communities of Alto Baudo received humanitarian attention
A total of 19 indigenous communities were assisted by the Victims Unit due to the emergency situation in which they find themselves, which makes it impossible for them to carry out activities that serve for their livelihood.
The Victims Unit responded to the request made by the mayor of Alto Baudo, to serve communities that are displaced and others in confinement, due to the public order situation in the area.
Due to this request, the Unit delivered 32 tons of humanitarian aid to 709 families, that is, 3.126 people from the indigenous communities of Ajidó, Alto Tumandó, Chiviguidó, Cristalino, Divisa Peña, La Felicia, Gengadó, La Ensenada, La Esperanza, Miacora, Miacora Central, Mohamia, Playa Bonita, Puerto Manzo, Puerto Tomás, Puesto Indio, Santa María de Condoto, Sarú and Tasí.
There were 709 food kits and an equal number of toilet kits that were distributed in each community. In a meeting with the indigenous governors, they expressed their appreciation for the responsiveness in the delivery of these elements.
For her part, Vanessa Palacios, territorial director of the Unit in Chocó, assured that “the national government, through the Victims Unit, continues with its commitment to attend to the victims and ensure comprehensive reparation with articulated work in each one of its phases”.
Finally, Ulises Palacios, mayor of Alto Baudo, expressed his approval for the aid received since "many families were affected with limitations to their mobility, which caused them to have deficiencies in terms of food security".
