The Unit for the Victims and the mayor’s office of Ibagué opened on Friday the attention point for victims of the internal armed conflict in the capital city of Tolima, after it had been renovated. This is part of an agreement between both institutions, for a value higher than 800 million Colombian pesos, out of which the Unit for the Victims invested 278,991,490, mainly for the construction and acquisition of materials.

The Unit for the Victims and the mayor’s office of Ibagué opened on Friday the attention point for victims of the internal armed conflict in the capital city of Tolima, after it had been renovated. This is part of an agreement between both institutions, for a value higher than 800 million Colombian pesos, out of which the Unit for the Victims invested 278,991,490, mainly for the construction and acquisition of materials.  

The building is in Carrera 4, between Calles 6 y 7 CAM La Pola, in Ibagué, where around 300 people a day receive attention, guidance, and support. Activities aimed at victims of the conflict are also monitored, according to the measures adopted by the Victims and Land Restitution Law (2011).

‘In the central territorial direction of the Unit for the Victims, we keep a strong commitment to the attention, and dignifying of victims. Adapting this point is a clear example of inter-institutional coordination of government,’ said Jorge Orlando Sánchez, the Unit’s regional director for Bogotá, Tolima, Cundinamarca, and Boyacá departments.

The public server also reminded in front of the members of the participation roundtable for victims that the attention point is theirs, and it is ‘to serve you’. By the 31st of January 2015, up to 119,761 people had been attended in this place (63% women, and 37% men), and 163,643 requests received.

At the moment, there are 116 attention centers in the country, which means that access barriers are being overcome. There are also 49 virtual kiosks and a telephone channel 24 hours a day in the national level (018000911119), and from Bogotá (4261111).
