The Victims Unit participates in a Handicraft Exhibition in Colombia, and launches a Christmas catalogue
The stand in the Bogota’s Handicraft Fair has products from artisans that are victims of the armed conflict, and the virtual catalog offers more than a hundred alternatives for Christmas presents.
Expoartesanias, a Handicraft Fair taking place in Bogota between the 5th and 18th December, is now the place where the artisans affected by Colombian armed conflict show their art, in a stand of the Victims Unit.
Among the selected craftwork, there are the “Dulces típicos del Caribe (Typical caramels from the Caribbean)”, jewelry from “Siempre Bella (Always Pretty)” and “Grass Accesorios (Accessories Grass)”, from Barranquilla city.
Also, the fashion trends from Cleiner Abadias, a designer from the Choco department in West Colombia; handicrafts from the Inga and Camentza indigenous communities from Putumayo (south-west), joined together in the company “Paakary Cini – Nuevo Amanecer (New Sunrise)”; and craftwork in a Colombian material called “caña flecha”, from Monteria.
The stand is located in the Corferias headquarters in Bogota.
As part of the follow-up process to victims, the Unit has launched a virtual catalog as part of a promotion strategy that gathers producers, aiming to boost their sales and improve their incomes.
Through the census registering the productive victims, 397 business units, hiring 2.150 survivors of the armed conflict, where identified.
