Victims of conflict living in Antofagasta (Chile) will have a new ally to guarantee their rights
With this alliance, the Victims Unit seeks to carry out actions that allow the victims of conflict living there to have new opportunities to improve their quality of life.
The Victims Unit and the Colombian Residents Collectivity in Antofagasta, Chile, signed a letter of understanding.
The agreement was signed between Ramón Rodríguez, general director of the Victims Unit, and Benjamín Cruz, president of the aforementioned organization.
This new ally of the Unit is a non-profit, functional Chilean organization with legal register that was born in 2014 and that has three fundamental purposes:
1. Gather Colombian citizens together and be a support network in aid of the establishment of migrant individuals and families.
2. Be representative before the Chilean State to publicize the needs of Colombians who are in this country, defend their rights and generate social changes by encouraging new or better public policies.
3. Fight against xenophobia, racism and discrimination, through the promotion of initiatives of social impact that encourage cultural Exchange and awareness of other realities, with actions in areas such as culture, community well-being and politics.
With this alliance, the Victims Unit seeks to carry out actions that allow the victims of conflict living there to have new opportunities to improve their quality of life, and that their situation is made visible in a positive way.
The signing of this agreement is the result of the extensive search that the Group for the Assistance to Victims Abroad has been doing during the current year, in order to find partners that contribute to the care of Colombian victims who are outside of Colombia. and the restoration of their rights in different countries.
