Execution of a project to strengthen reparation to victims began in Quito (Ecuador)

Attendees enjoyed a space for learning, recognition, relationship and integration through art.

Within the framework of the project "Training in technical skills and strengthening of human rights for the population victim of armed conflict", the Victims Unit and the Consulate of Colombia in Quito, Ecuador, began a series of workshops aimed at the victim population, with those who hope to facilitate the learning of new trades that allows them to project business ideas for the future.

The project aims to facilitate the appropriation of technical skills and knowledge of human rights with a gender perspective, within the framework of its comprehensive reparation process; for this, four activities are contemplated:

Training in the use of recyclable material and bakery; spaces for awareness-raising and training in human rights with a gender perspective; Actions that contribute to the guarantees of non-repetition from training for economic sustainability and social pedagogy processes based on the recognition of rights, and promotion of the recognition and expression of emotions.

The implementation of this initiative began on August 13 with the first session, of three planned, of the art workshop with recycled material, which had the participation of 24 families of Colombian survivors of conflict, led by the workshop leader Pierina Rodríguez, who It provided a space not only for learning but for integration and mutual support.

For this workshop, the kits with the materials used during the session were previously sent to the home of the registrants. Through the zoom platform, the registered families, servers of the Consulate of Colombia in this city and servers of the Victims Assistance Group abroad were connected, who had the opportunity to meet, share experiences and to the sound of Colombian music to advance in the proposed artistic project.

The two remaining sessions will take place next Thursday, August 20 and 27, and once the workshop is over, they will receive the bakery workshop and the implementation of the other activities planned in the project will begin.
