Young victims of conflict are called to define their military situation

People between the ages of 18 and 50 who are recognized as victims of armed conflict will be able to obtain their military card for free. The Victims Unit, SENA and the Army call on this population to define their military situation.

The Victims Unit through its Atlantic Territorial Directorate and the Technical Subdirectorate of SNARIV, in coordination with SENA and the Second Recruitment Area of ​​the National Army, carried out two days of socialization with young victims of conflict for the definition of their military situation.

The sessions held virtually, allowed young victims residing in Barranquilla and other municipalities of the department of Atlántico, to receive guidance and learn about the requirements, guidelines and due process that they must carry out before the Military District No. 10 and 44 of the city to obtain their document. of military notebook.

The Victims Unit, the Ministry of Defense and the National Army's Directorate of Recruitment and Control of Reserves, signed since 2015 a protocol for the exchange of information and operational operation of the exemption measure in the provision of military service, disincorporation and delivery of military notebooks to victims of armed conflict in Colombia.

“People who are only children, are included in the Single Victims Registry, have a physical or cognitive disability, are in Sisbén I, II, or III, and in a condition of abandonment on the street, are exonerated by law from providing military service, and the payments and fines that this process concerns” explained Sergeant Camilo Marín Cañas, who was in charge of socialization by Military District No. 10.

This agreement has resulted in more than 51.673 victims obtaining their card to make any procedure in the country easier and access better job opportunities. Among that number, 3.892 have been delivered so far in 2020.
