Victim population in Llanos Orientales will be able to access discounts for higher education
The Victims Unit and the National Open and Distance University (UNAD), signed a bilateral agreement to favor the victims of the region and the entire country in their academic training.
Through the signing of a letter of understanding, the Victims Unit and Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD), socialized that by 2020, victims of armed conflict throughout the national territory where a higher education institution is present, will be able to access the discount benefit for enrollment.
Through the National Higher Education Technical Board, which guides actions aimed at favoring the victims of the armed conflict in terms of access to higher education, research, information exchange, knowledge generation, intervention social, science and culture, it was achieved that there is a discount equivalent to 25% of the total cost of enrollment in undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing education, permanent education and foreign language training programs.
This discount applies discriminated in the following way: 10% corresponding to the electoral discount for those who meet this requirement, an additional 15% for the population victim of armed conflict duly certified by the Victims Unit and who are included in the Registry Sole Victim (RUV) it should be clarified that this discount is only valid for the cost of academic credits and does not extend to the cost of student insurance, registration and other pecuniary costs.
In addition, among the other lines of intervention within the agreement signed with the UNAD, are those of promoting the efficient flow of information allowing the dissemination of benefits granted to the victims, providing technical assistance and support according to the lines of work advanced by the institution, support initiatives on psychosocial issues and differential approaches and advice on income generation projects, among others.
Carlos Arturo Pardo, territorial director of Meta and Llanos Orientales, affirmed that the Unit "is always in search of reaching agreements to guarantee the rights of victims and promote the improvement of their quality of life in this region and throughout the country".
