Territorial entities and institutions responsible for victims’ attention in the department of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina already have an updated instrument that will allow them to guarantee care, assistance and reparation to this population.

The results show 143 households characterized, which are formed by 497 victims located in San Andres and Providencia. The collected information deals with data regarding health, education, income generation, identification, family reunification, food and housing.

The National Information Network’s Sub-director, Badir Ali Badran, showed the results in the archipelago’s Transitional Justice Committee. “It is important that the departmental government receives the results, and it is their responsibility, along with the expert entities, to design public policies with targeting and prioritization criteria. The goal is for the next measurements to show how victims have overcome their vulnerability degree with the competent entities actions," he said.

This characterization is part of the Unit for Victims’ commitments acquired in the Fundamental Dialogues, which was a request of the Victims Effective Participation Boards members.

"It is a space that had been programmed for us, so we as victims can acknowledge who we are, how many and how we find ourselves in the department. What comes next are the actions, the way how the victim’s policy would be applied, and then enforce it," said Humberto Ariza, the Board’s Coordinator.

The information gathering sessions were held in November, and they were supported by the Ombudsman's Office, the Delegate Attorney's Office, and the departmental government, which is the main responsible for assisting victims in the territory.

“The departmental administration will be able to take actions to minimize the victims’ vulnerability. We thank the institutions that were part of the information session," said the Social Development Secretary in charge, Jonathan Taylor Diaz, who chaired the Transitional Justice Committee.
