The inhabitants of this sector were satisfied by the 23 actions that the Unit implemented in their territory, seven years after the opening of the collective subject.

With an act at the Educational Institution of Puerto Nuevo, in Bajo Simacota (Simacota, Santander), the measures implemented by the Victims Unit in the subject were closed since 2013. This closure of the comprehensive collective reparation plan was attended by the Impulse Committee, the Municipal Mayor's Office, the Ombudsman of the municipality and the community in general.

During this day, the entity gave awards to the members of the promotion committee and the group of weavers of Bajo Simacota, for their commitment and dedication throughout the collective reparation process developed in their territory.

Historic context:

On February 23, 2013, in the Municipal Council of Simacota, a meeting was held with the Municipal Administration, Municipal Representation, police authorities, councilors and representatives of the victim population and the Victims Unit, where the presentation of the Collective Repair of Bajo Simacota Route was socialized.

On September 30, 2014, the comprehensive plan for collective reparation was approved to comply with 23 measures: three measures of Guarantees of non-repetition, three measures of Rehabilitation, 10 measures of Restitution and seven measures of satisfaction.

Among the 23 actions implemented during the collective reparation process in Bajo Simacota, the following stand out:

Emotional development strategies and acts of resignification were carried out to strengthen the psychosocial part of the victim population. The historical memory of the sector was also carried out by means of booklets and audiovisual material.

The Unit also carried out the adaptation and donation of biomedical elements to Puerto Nuevo and El Guamo health post, in addition to providing care with health brigades in conjunction with the Department of Health of the department and the National Army.

In terms of training and access to education, days were held to prioritize military notebooks, in addition to the delivery of productive projects and machinery for strengthening of agricultural production in the area. The education sector was strengthened with the donation of furniture to the educational institutions of Puerto Nuevo and El Guamo.

In security, councils were developed for the accompaniment of the public forces in the area, in addition to the provision of radio telephones for effective communication of the victim population in their territory.

The Victims Unit also carried out actions in infrastructure, with the donation of construction materials for the roof of the Puerto Nuevo sports center and the structural improvement of the health post.

With the closure of the Subject in Simacota, the lower sector, there are already two collective reparation processes delivered by the Unit in Santander, resulting in total success in the measures implemented in Suratá and Simacota.
