Theater initiative strengthened in Putumayo to continue building peace
The support provided by the Victims Unit benefits 34 young people who are part of the experimental theater group of the educational institution José Asunción Silva, in El Placer.
As a pilot plan, the Victims Unit during 2020 decided to support 20 initiatives throughout the country from the psychosocial area, of which two of them are in the department of Putumayo, one of these is the theater group of this institution education of El Placer hamlet of the municipality of Valle del Guamuez.
Wearing typical costumes and guided by one of the institution's teachers who presented the initiative to the Unit, the young people performed a staging during the project closing event and delivery of supplies to the beneficiaries.
"We are convinced that with these types of incentives we continue to promote the scenarios of culture and peace in our department and bet on the construction of peace that our country needs", said the territorial director of the Victims Unit in Putumayo, Germán Narváez.
Among the equipment and supplies are a laptop, a video beam, a light controller, wireless microphones, ceiling speakers, light booth, filleting machine, Industrial flat machine, thread scissors and cloth rolls.
Regarding the support for this initiative, the rector of the educational institution, Segundo Cesar Burbano, assured: “We are receiving an excellent endowment that we have waited for a long time for the experimental theater group of the institution. With this, more than a complement, it is a project to continue advancing in peace with our students”.
The economic incentive amounts to the value of the 40 current legal monthly minimum wages paid in the inputs described.
From June to date, the psychosocial professional of the Unit accompanied the group and held four psychosocial workshops with the beneficiary population.
For his part, the candidate professor of the initiative, John Henry Beltrán, assured that "This provides us with different benefits, such as optimizing the theatrical presentations in order to show something worthy of our audience, and we give a special thanks to the Victims Unit for this valuable delivery".
Another of the initiatives selected for strengthening is Tierra Fértil theater group from El Tigre, Valle del Guamuez, who this Friday will also receive their supplies.
