With an investment that exceeds 9.000 million pesos, the Victims Unit has compensated communities affected by the armed conflict in nine municipalities in the province of Ocaña during the time of the pandemic.

During her visit to the province of Ocaña, the territorial director of the entity, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, pointed out that the individual reparation process has benefited those who suffered the rigors of violence in the municipalities of Ábrego, Convencion, Hacarí, Villacaro, El Carmen, Teorama, Ocaña, La Playa and San Calixto.

"We continue to reach all the municipalities of the department, assisting hundreds of people and families who register different victimizing events, who today see their individual reparation process completed", she noted.

In his opinion, “payments have been made since March, by different delivery mechanisms through the banking system, personal notification and 4-72 messaging, to facilitate the compensation process, avoid the concentration of people and the displacement of the beneficiaries”.

Rojas Pérez led the recent deliveries of compensation letters to the elderly or disabled in the municipality of Ocaña, who expressed their satisfaction with the care and reparation. “I am happy to receive this payment that today will help me meet my needs. I like this talk very well and more in these times, thanks to God, the Virgin and the Victims Unit, because this is a very great help”, said one of the beneficiaries who, for security reasons, asked to reserve her identity.

“Ocaña is the receiving municipality with the highest number of victims from the Catatumbo area. During this institutional visit, we carried out various actions and steps to strengthen the process of care for people who were affected by the violent events in order to improve, in a coordinated manner with the local government, the processes that allow agile and timely attention in the framework of repair processes. We will continue working for these communities, listening to their concerns and giving effective compliance to those contemplated in Law 1448”, the official added.
