The Victims Unit issued a detailed report on the administrative compensation awarded during this year in the national territory.

According to the report, until last August in the department of Vaupés 66 victims of the conflict benefited from this measure, with a value that exceeds $370 million.

Of the beneficiaries, 12 were prioritized by disability; 35 by age; nine due to illness; two, for more than one of these criteria, and eight without a specific one.

The director of the Unit in Meta and Llanos Orientales, Carlos Pardo Alezones, stressed that despite the difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the entity has been complying with these payments.

“We implemented the notification mechanism via text message, in which we inform the victim that their check letter is ready so that they can collect the compensation at Banco Agrario. Furthermore, under all biosecurity measures, our officials continue to personally deliver these letters”, said the official.

Pardo recalled that all the procedures of the Unit are free and the victims do not need intermediaries to access them.

All the beneficiaries of these measures received advice on the appropriate investment of resources, in order for them to use the compensation money in aspects that contribute to improving their quality of life.
