Compensation to victims in Urabá rekindles hope amid the pandemic
The Victims Unit has been delivering the reparation measure to 458 people who suffered the armed conflict in this Antioquia subregion.
Through different messaging, banking, and face-to-face delivery mechanisms with biosafety protocols, the Victims Unit prepares the payment of the administrative compensation measure to 458 victims of the municipalities of the Urabá subregion, despite the conditions they are going through the country for the pandemic.
These indemnities have been made gradually and progressively, with a budget allocation that exceeds $ 3.740 million, a value that added to the indemnities recently delivered exceeds $4.100 million.
Among those compensated was Carmelo Cogollo *, a victim of displacement, with 101 years, 40 children and a hundred grandchildren, and with the mental clarity and strength to express: “I ask my God to give me more life and this will to be to feed and sustain me”. He resides in Obrero neighborhood Apartadó.
In the subregions of Urabá and Darién, more than 3.000 victims have been compensated this year, exceeding $ 30.000 million in resources, reported until June. Deliveries are advancing in the 14 municipalities that make up the territorial unit, 10 in the department of Antioquia and 4 in Chocó.
Elizabeth Granada Ríos, territorial director of the Unit in this area, stressed the importance of "the adequate investment of resources, free access to this and the other measures and programs offered by the Victims Unit".
Likewise, the entity continues to strengthen non-face care channels, with the management of new telephone lines to facilitate procedures and provide timely service to victims.
