With compensation the Victims Unit repair 619 victims in Antioquia
During August, the victims participate in acts of reparation with guidance and an inter-institutional offer for the adequate investment of more than 4.242 million pesos delivered by the Unit.
Elderly people, with illnesses, disabilities and women heads of the family are part of the 619 victims of armed conflict who will be able to improve their living conditions with financial compensation for 4.442 million pesos that they obtain in August as a measure of their reparation.
This week, 267 of them residing in Bello were guided by officials from the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to Victims and the local Mayor's Office on the public offer of various institutions for the adequate investment of these public monies in housing, higher education, savings, productive projects, pensions, new lines of credit from Finagro and Bancoldex.
For Maria Mileidy Otero, coordinator of the victims' participation table, this event benefited "a prioritized population of older adults, people with disabilities and many women heads of family".
The leader also stressed that, "although we know this cannot restore what happened to us a long time ago when we fled due to violence, it helps us in these times of pandemic and to invest well to get ahead and help us to undertake".
The director of the Victims Unit in Antioquia, Wilson Córdoba Mena, reported that these “267 victims receive more than 2 billion pesos that point to the recovery of their life projects and the social network, and therefore the accompaniment to invest in the business venture or for your needs”.
People benefited from the priority route of reparation in recognition of the victimizing acts they suffered, such as homicides and forced disappearance of family members, kidnappings, forced displacement, dispossession of property and personal injuries. Between this Thursday and Friday, another 339 victims will be compensated in Caucasia, Tarázá and Cáceres.
The territorial director also indicated that "they are part of the total of 11.525 victims compensated in Antioquia between April and August of this year for more than 100.960 million pesos, as a measure of comprehensive reparation during the emergency caused by the pandemic".
These administrative compensation are in addition to more than 1.130.000 already delivered by the Victims Unit in the last nine years in Colombia in compliance with the Victims Law. Of these, more than 270.000 in Antioquia.
In total, the Unit for the Reparation of Victims has invested 13.2 billion pesos in Colombia (2.9 billion in Antioquia) for individual reparation, humanitarian and emergency aid, community infrastructure projects and subsidiary support to entities territorial.
