Representatives and defenders were trained in effective participation of victims

The seven departments that make up the territorial Meta and Llanos Orientales of the Unit, participated in the training on technical secretariats to address issues of normative foundations and structure of the victim participation process.

The Victims Unit began the process of workshops for the technical secretariats of the participation tables of victims, municipal representatives and regional defenders of the departments of Meta, Vichada, Guaviare, Guainía, Amazonas, Casanare and Vaupés, in order that Know basic concepts and tools so that the development of the incidence of the Public Policy of Victims, is done articulately and in accordance with Law 1448 of 2011.

The workshops were held in one day, divided into two blocks. In the morning, the technical secretariats of Meta and Vichada were trained, and in the afternoon, the other departments that are part of the Territorial Directorate.

This training dealt with specific topics on the activity of the participation tables and the considerations that must be taken into account when accompanying these tables, as well as recognizing the importance of the participation of victims and identifying key actors and spaces in the advocacy process.

In addition, the structure of the public policy of victims was disclosed; the historical-legal context of the Protocol for the effective participation of victims; table periods; how the timely and effective participation is guaranteed and the requirements and prohibitions to be a member of said instance.

Carlos Arturo Pardo Alezones, territorial director of Meta and Llanos Orientales, highlighted that the victims' tables need to have a visibility in the territory, to strengthen them in the incidence in the public policy of victims, and that thanks to the permanent support of the Victims Unit and the technical secretariats made up of representatives and defenders, significant progress has been made in the development plans of each municipality and department.
