Indigenous associates belonging to the Amorúa, Sáliba and Sikuani peoples are associated with this community.

The Victims Unit participated in an inter-institutional meeting to evaluate the progress of the process of restitution of territorial rights to the Kanalitojo-Puerto Colombia indigenous community, in the department of Vichada.

The entity explained that, in response to the Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan (PIRC), during 2019 it developed activities to strengthen the ancestral knowledge of traditional medicine, and agricultural and productivity cycles; strategies for reconciliation between the indigenous community, settlers, organizations and entities of Puerto Carreño; conferences for the organizational training of the indigenous guard, and meetings to facilitate the identity appropriation of those who, due to the effects of displacement, lost cultural protective factors and fell into the consumption of psychoactive substances and prostitution.

Likewise, delegates from the Unit maintained that this 2020, the implementation of the remaining actions that make up the PIRC of this community was foreseen and the commitments of joint work with the mayor of Puerto Carreño were reaffirmed. However, the activities were postponed due to the sanitary measures adopted in the face of the pandemic and will resume once the situation is overcome.

In 2018, the Unit made an investment of more than $ 330 million for the implementation of actions such as the strengthening of the collective livestock project that the community of Kanalitojo has been developing, the improvement of the educational headquarters of the community and the provision of technological implements and schoolchildren, among others.

Entities such as the National Land Agency, Ministry of the Interior, Vichada Government, Army, Police, Prosecutor's Office, Office of the Prosecutor, Ombudsman, National Protection Unit, Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and Land Restitution Unit also participated in this meeting.
