With four work fronts, the Antioquia departmental table works in coordination with the State institutions, to achieve the inclusion of its proposals within the municipal and departmental development plans.

Menderson Mosquera, coordinator of the Table for Effective Participation in Antioquia, explained that "in order to achieve synchronized work between the representatives of victims and the institutions, we held sessions in which we are working, in advocacy for the Governance of Antioquia include our proposals in the Development Plan that until now is under construction".

"As a second component within our work plan we have the oversight and social control, which we focus on to monitor the implementation of the victims law, because as victims and as representatives of the Table of Effective Participation, we have political functionality through the participation protocol to carry out this task hand in hand with the institutions that can give us an account of it”, said Mosquera.

In the third point of his work plan, Mosquera said that they are requesting the institutionality, "academic training in legislative matters and legal concepts of the victims law and related to public policy."

The incidence

"In this sense, we have the proposal of the Antioquia departmental board, to be taken into account in the synchronization of the Development Plan that is being built, in order to materialize through the proposed territorial action plan for the benefit of the population victim in components such as housing or productive projects", he stressed.

The representatives of victims of Antioquia also highlight their advocacy to defend their rights to truth, justice and reparation before the Special Justice for Peace. "Within the departmental table we have two representatives who are part of the National Participation Table, and through them we present a proposal to reform Law 1448," added Mosquera.

Lastly, he referred to the fact that among the proposals put forward as leaders of the Antioquia region in reforms to the Victims Law, “we propose that those who are over 60 be included in the payment of compensation, that is, that the age is modified so that victims from that age also benefit from this measure and not only victims older than 74 years in accordance with the prioritization that is currently being applied”.

The Victims Unit accompanies the representatives in the elaboration of their work plans and in the articulation with SNARIV entities, in order to fulfill their purposes of advocacy and active and effective participation.
