World Bank supported the recovery of the social network in Samaná, Caldas
A total of 55 subjects of collective reparation in the country benefited from the project "Reparation to Victims for Social Reconstruction", an agreement executed between the Unit for Victims and the World Bank.
Samaná was one of the municipalities of Caldas hardest hit by the armed conflict, there the Victims Unit has carried out several processes of individual and collective reparation, which include actions accompanied by a strong psychosocial component.
It was in this municipality in eastern Caldas, within the framework of the "Victim Reparation for Social Reconstruction" project, developed by the Victims Unit and the World Bank, with the help of the Swedish Government, that several of the victims' associations they benefited from the delivery of essential elements for the economic development of their families in the food line.
"In Samaná, we have been developing actions on different fronts that allow us to confirm that we are really recovering the social network at the hands of the victim population, one of these actions was carried out in 2018, with the delivery of nine industrial refrigerators and equipment such as laptops and printers that were vital to boost economic development in victim associations with a strong component in the management of dairy products, meat and sweets", said Laura Moreno, territorial director of the Unit in the Coffee Region.
The measure implemented on August 13, 2018, benefited nine associations of victims at the head of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs Victims of Samaná, investment in these industrial refrigerators and computer equipment amounted to almost $ 140 million pesos.
This action served to strengthen the Municipal Collection Center, rebuilding a collective life project that the victims of town had, fulfilling essential requirements such as sustainability, gradualness and progressiveness, to benefit at least 150 people directly.
In general lines, the unit's general director, Ramón Rodríguez Andrade, indicated that the agreement: “allowed to attend to 55 subjects of collective reparation, with 121 reparation actions, benefiting 8,000 survivors of conflict directly and another 80,000 from indirectly”. The aforementioned project had a total donation for the entire national territory of 4.7 million dollars.
Currently, the vast majority of the measures and actions that are immersed in the Samaná Comprehensive Reparation Plan have already been implemented; it is calculated that the closure of this subject of collective reparation can be carried out during the current term.
In terms of individual reparation, Samaná currently has a victim population of 17,864 people, of whom 2,279 have already received administrative compensation from the Unit, according to data from the National Information Network, in that sense the investment amounts to $ 13,751 million pesos.
