Victims Unit joins the Cabinet Encounter strategy

In order to influence the inclusion and prioritization of survivors of conflict in the strategies and projects articulated among the national Government, the departments and municipalities, the Victims Unit participated in the first Regional Meeting of Cabinets held in Medellin led by President Iván Duque.

In a coordination and planning exercise, the ministers and directors of national entities, attended the Plaza Mayor Convention Center for a day of articulation with the teams and secretariats of the Government of Antioquia and the Mayor's Office of Medellín, to articulate the strategic projects of the region that merits joint work between the Nation and the territory.

The director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Alberto Rodríguez Andrade, stressed that “when there are programs and there is articulation in social inclusion processes, everything is aimed at strengthening the care and repair route. That's why it was important to be there”.

The official informed that in favor of victims in Antioquia, the entity must “articulate with the Future Zones and Development Plans with Territorial Approach (PDET), so that we can add to the plans at the departmental and municipal level, as well as the plans for collective reparation, return and relocation of displaced persons that are part of the lines strategic that managed throughout the country”.

 Rodríguez also reported that one of the coordination issues addressed with the Government of Antioquia and the Mayor's Office of Medellín, "is the subsidiary mechanism for which we have 1,423 million pesos this year". It should be noted that these monies are earmarked by the Unit to support municipalities in emergency care caused by victimizing events.

The meeting was also attended by the governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria, and the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero. At the end, President Iván Duque stressed that "this exercise that has been done marks a milestone in the coordination of the national government with the departmental government and the municipal government".

"It is the first time that there is an exercise in planning, defining goals and projects of cabinets of the National, Departmental and Medellin Government," he noted.

Several central ministers, the director of Social Prosperity, Susana Correa and the High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos, also attended. In the first Regional Meeting of Cabinets, infrastructure, water and sanitation, environment, education, entrepreneurship, tourism, early childhood, justice, mobility, security, Orange Economy, connectivity, culture and agribusiness development projects were defined.
