The procedures before the Victims Unit are free and no intermediaries are needed

The entity director, Ramón Rodríguez, said he had knowledge of people who are taking advantage of victims in southern Bogotá, setting up offices on behalf of the Unit. The official asked citizens to report these irregularities.

In the last hours in the city of Bogotá, a new case was known in which the victims of conflict were being deceived by a woman who presented herself as a lawyer for a supposed foundation and charged these people for advancing proceedings before the Victims Unit and other entities.

Given this situation, the director of the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation for Victims, Ramón Rodríguez, reiterated to the survivors of conflict that all the procedures are free and do not need intermediaries: “From the legal office of the entity, we have the accompaniment of a team of professionals who fight against fraud. We have several campaigns in which we tell victims not to be fooled and do not believe everything you hear"

“We have knowledge of people who are taking advantage in the south of Bogotá, setting up offices on behalf of the Victims Unit. We ask each of the citizens and victims in Colombia to please report and inform the competent authorities of this type of action”, added the official.

Director Rodríguez recalled that the entity "works hand in hand with the Attorney General's Office and the National Police, to identify these cases, monitor and be able to reach the corresponding catches".

Rodríguez Andrade reiterated and was emphatic in that this type of people and processors “just want to keep the compensation that is the result of the reparation to which they are entitled to be victims of conflict. My invitation is to be very attentive, denounce those people who say they can easily access the resources, we do not have intermediaries and neither do the officials of the entity have to charge for the procedures”.
