More than a thousand victims have received psychosocial repair care in Antioquia in 2019

More than a thousand victims of armed conflict were strengthened with the new Comprehensive Reparation Strategy with a Focus on Planting Rights in Antioquia, during the first half of this year to continue recovering from the emotional damage caused by violence.
Another 67 people concluded in Medellín, Bello and La Estrella their participation in group meetings led by the psychosocial team of the Unit for the Reparation of Victims in Antioquia, which focus on emotional recovery and the management of experiences of suffering.
These add up to 216,576 thousand people affected by armed conflict in Colombia, and of these more than 32 thousand in Antioquia, benefiting from the Unit's psychosocial processes since 2002 as a measure of their repair.
With group psychosocial exercises and exchanging their painful stories, these victims grieve recognizing their resilience after suffering the murder or disappearance of family members, uprooting and losses from forced displacement, kidnapping or sexual violence.
María, whose husband was killed by an illegal armed group in Medellín, said that “this attention helps us close these cycles and sufferings by learning to overcome depressions and this helps us to once again have an appreciation for life to move forward with our families "
According to the director of the Victims Unit in Antioquia, Wilson Córdoba Mena, with this strategy “he aims to heal as much as possible the damage caused to people by the victimizing events they suffered so that they can return to direct their life projects".
