The Unit compensated 200 victims prioritized by age or disability, In Atlántico

The beneficiaries are elderly citizens plus 17,317 people affected by conflict who already received their compensation in the department

In a space of Social and Economic Inclusion led by the Victims Unit, this Monday the delivery of 200 letters of compensation to victims of armed conflict resident in various municipalities of the Atlantic was carried out.

The Territorial Director of the Victims Unit, Alfredo Palencia, after installing the delivery event, explained that criteria have been established to prioritize and distribute government resources for the reparation of victims, in order to compensate those who have a special differential approach.

"The 200 victims benefited in this event, included in the RUV (Single Victim Registry), for acts of homicide and forced displacement, are adults over 74 years of age who meet the criteria of resolution 1049 of 2019, which establishes a priority route to compensate and repair victims older than that age, with a disability or terminal illness", said Palencia.

"No one is receiving compensation for intermediation of officials, or processors or lawyers", Palencia added.

The delivery made in the auditorium of the Regional Center of Barranquilla, exceeds $ 1,520 million that are added to a total investment and more than $ 122,348 million, which the National Government through the Unit, has allocated to compensate more than 17,317 survivors of armed conflict in the department of Atlántico.

"About 15 years ago I lost everything I had in Ayapel, my little children, my farm, my little animals, everything; but I want to thank God for this help that I am given today with the compensation, because I sell green and mature bananas in the streets and with this I am going to claim I want to start my business so I do not have to walk anymore, "said Santiago *, victim 78 years old.

The victims benefited in this day are currently in Barranquilla, Soledad, Baranoa, Campo de la Cruz, Galapa, Malambo, Palmar, Piojo, Polo Nuevo, Ponedera, Puerto Colombia, Sabanagrande, Sabanalarga, Santa Lucia and Tubará.
