Table of Victims of Risaralda commemorated on April 9

The Victims Unit accompanied the Departmental Participation Tables of Risaralda and Municipal de Marseille, during different activities that were carried out on the basis of the 9th.

The survivors of armed conflict in Risaralda commemorated the National Day of Historical Memory and Solidarity of Victims, with different activities that had their epicenter in the municipality of Marseille.

The Departmental Board held a first day with plenary included in which various issues that will benefit this population in the territory were discussed, there were invited the Municipal Bureau of Marsella, the members of the Executive Committees of the Tables of the other municipalities of department and government and control entities.

During the plenary session, Laura Moreno, territorial director of Unit in the Coffee Region, explained the different steps that the entity has been taking to improve the quality of life of  victims in each of the 53 municipalities that make up the territory.

"In the last two months we have been giving priority to the payment of compensation for the elderly (74 years or more), in the three departments we managed to make the effective payment of 300 indemnities worth close to $ 2,300 million pesos, Likewise, to improve attention, we have new points in Belén de Umbría and Pueblo Rico, preventing people from having to travel to Pereira to resolve their concerns", the official argued.

The victims took the opportunity to request more compensation for this area of ​​the country and support through the Department of Social Prosperity to achieve the formulation of productive projects that benefit the survivors by providing job opportunities through fixed income.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank the presence of Unit and the support for carrying out these commemoration activities, we hope that they continue to be present in different locations and that they can work hand in hand with us, articulating initiatives aimed at the good living of about 250 thousand victims we have, "said Orbilio Maya, victim leader in Santa Rosa de Cabal.

Also under the coordination of Idalí Londoño, survivors and authorities performed symbolic and commemorative acts in the cemetery of Marseille, where hundreds of victims of conflict are listed as nn, rescued from the waters of Cauca River, in the village of Beltrán.

In the same way there was floral offering and messages alluding to 9a as: "Our voices participate in the territorial memory", "The war put us in different places, but we have to meet everyone, so that this does not happen again", the Ombudsman's Office Town and different educational entities were also present in the activities.

José Carlos Gálvez, member of the Departmental Roundtable, concluded: "The feeling of  victims is strengthening with the processes that the Unit is advancing, hopefully we can continue working as a team, remembering, and remembering with the hope that we will never happen again Because of what happened, we will continue working for the victims and for peace".
