Young victims stand up for their rights

For the first time in Colombia, young victims of the internal armed conflict have the opportunity to be acknowledged, listed, and they can impact the public policy that affects them. They have a clear interest in education and peace, and are being listened to in the participation roundtables in all departments.

For the first time in Colombia, young victims of the internal armed conflict have the opportunity to be acknowledged, listed, and they can impact the public policy that affects them. They have a clear interest in education and peace, and are being listened to in the participation roundtables in all departments.

Within the framework of the International Youth Day, the Unit for Victims begins a series of regional meetings in the municipalities of Cúcuta and Popayán, finishing in Pasto and Medellín, as well as the implementation of the participation protocol for children and adolescents in five departments in the country.

Paula Gaviria Betancur, Unit’s head director, said that ‘reparation of children, adolescents, and youth is a paramount initiative of the Colombian government for us to have a generation of adults more committed to peace.’
