Victims Unit in Antioquia seeks to influence territorial development plans to benefit the population affected by the conflict
With the purpose of generating opportunities for victims in this department, the Unit generates spaces for rapprochement with the new leaders.
For three days, the Victims Unit in Antioquia holds a meeting with the new leaders and their work teams, in order to emphasize the public policy of victims so that it is taken into account in their new administrations in the construction of their territorial development plans.
In Medellín, at Nutibara Hotel, talks were held in which the entity's officials illustrated the different processes and procedures in each component of law 1448 to be taken into account and the importance for compliance with the management indicators during this four years.
Julián Baseur, official of the municipality of El Carmen de Viboral said that “it is important that municipalities can receive these tools in order that in the new administrations we can implement the lines, strategies and programs that have to do with victims of agreement with what the Law 1448 establishes”.
For his part, Wilson Córdoba, director of the Victims Unit in Antioquia, referred to this meeting: “They are the opportunity for the new leaders and their government teams to know the entity and how we can work as a team in favor of the victim population”.
The official also stressed that “within Law 1448 there is a co-responsibility for territorial entities in the care, assistance, and comprehensive reparation of victims, so we articulate with those who barely reach municipal administrations to integrate projects and programs into their Development plans".
In Antioquia more than 250,000 victims have been compensated with resources worth 1.6 billion pesos.
In total, the Unit for Comprehensive Assistance and Reparation for Victims has invested 12 billion pesos in Colombia (2.8 billion in Antioquia) for individual reparation, humanitarian and emergency aid, community infrastructure projects and subsidiary support to territorial entities for the attention of the population affected by the conflict.
