This year, attention was consolidated in the Regional Victim Assistance Center that opened in late 2018 and is located in the center of Pereira. Faced with the psychosocial recovery and the reconstruction of the social fabric, the territorial director Laura Moreno said: “I have always said it is useless to have money in our pocket, if we have not healed the wounds left by the armed conflict in our hearts, that is why it is vital that people have access to our psychosocial, emotional recovery and social fabric workshops, in that sense we have developed initiatives such as Cre-Ser (with minor victims) and Entrelazando, in order to have emotionally healthy families”.

3,817 people have been beneficiaries of these programs that help in the recovery of trust and the exercise of citizenship.

Anti-fraud

In Eje Cafetero and in general throughout the country, the anti-fraud campaign “Don´t believe everything you heard” has been advancing. Through this, recommendations are given to the victims so as not to be fooled. It is emphasized that all procedures before the Unit are free and no processors are required to take steps for issues such as humanitarian aid or administrative compensation. The victims can advance the procedures directly in the Points of Attention arranged in Pereira, Dosquebradas, La Virginia, Santa Rosa, Apía, Pueblo Rico, Quinchía, Santuario and Belén de Umbría.

Indigenous population

This year an important work was carried out with the indigenous communities, such as the rapprochement with the leaders and governors and the development of activities that are aimed at making the returned families remain in the department.

In this way, several processes of return of families settled in Pereira, Ibagué and Bogotá, who came back to their ancestral guards in Pueblo Rico and Mistrató, were advanced. There was also a service fair in Santa Cecilia that benefited about 400 families who had returned in previous years and who needed institutional attention and offer. About 15 tons of food and kitchen and toilet kits were delivered to displaced families in Chocó who arrived in the city of Pereira.

The commitments that are made with the communities are being reviewed and steps have been taken so that other entities that belong to the System comply with issues such as housing.
