Victims Unit clarifies news about the capture of former mayor of Cisneros
After learning about the capture of Adrián Hernando Echeverry, former employee of the Mayor's Office of Cisneros (Antioquia) and indicted as allegedly responsible for the crime of concussion, the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation for Victims (UARIV) clarifies that:

Echeverry never served as an officer of the Victims' Unit. The detainee held until last year as a liaison for victims of the municipal administration of the municipality of Antioquia, whose role is the procedures for the care of people affected by conflict by the territorial entity and other entities, including the Unit.
At the beginning of last year, both this entity and the City Hall of Cisneros received complaints from people about alleged collections of money by the then municipal official to local people for processing monies of administrative compensation and humanitarian aid, which were reported to the competent authorities.
For these anomalies and criminal complaints that the Mayor of Cisneros established, they did not renew the hiring of Echeverry, who left office in the middle of last year.
The Victims Unit reiterates that the procedures, consultations and procedures before the entity are free and that the victims do not need intermediaries or processors to access the reparation measures contemplated by the Victims Law or other benefits for this population.
The Unit works with the judicial authorities to report on the complaints received to initiate the respective investigations and to bring those responsible to justice.
