Before law students in Santa Marta, the unit director explained progress of reparation to victims
The director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez, participated in the "II International Congress of Legal Knowledge: current issues of human rights", held in Santa Marta (Magdalena).
During the presentation, which was addressed to the law students of the Cooperative University of Colombia in Santa Marta, the director explained the progress of Unit in the integral reparation to the victims of armed conflict in the country, with the assistance measures, attention and reparation granted by the State.
Ramón Rodríguez said that "from the Victims Unit what we have promoted is to achieve an approach between victims and institutions to respond to the needs of the victims population throughout the territory".
He also indicated that "we have been doing a whole process of care, assistance and reparation for the victims, they are long processes and they have inter-institutional articulation to be able to comply with the law in each of the measures".
"It is important to highlight that the Unit has its 18 mission processes and 20 territorial directorates certified, that allows us to talk every day about opportunities for improvement, in order to better serve the victim population", he said.
The General Director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Alberto Rodríguez, ended by telling about the fulfillment of the processes and progress of the collective reparation, integral repair, compensation, returns and relocations routes.
"We are reaching a million victims compensated, with an investment of approximately 6 billion pesos in these compensation payments", he said.
The meeting was held in the Simón Bolívar auditorium of Zuana hotel.
