Young victims of illegal recruitment participated in the meeting "Differential Way of Life"

The Victims Unit participated in the second national youth meeting that took place in the city of Cartagena. 65 young people separated from the FARC were part of this day.

In the city of Cartagena, the second National Youth Encounter "Differential Way of Life" was held, in which 65 young victims of illegal recruitment participated. As teenagers, they left the camps of the FARC guerrilla, within the framework of the Peace Agreement.

Since then, the Victims Unit, headed by the Differential and Gender Approach Group of the Subdirectorate General, has been accompanying this group to access their comprehensive reparation, with mechanisms of flexibility in each of the care measures and reparation to those who are entitled.

During the day, a balance was made from the moment of departure from the camps to the present through reflective activities that symbolized the past, the present and the future of each of the young people who are in the process, where they were highlighted the positive advances and their personal achievements such as the purchase of housing, entry into schooling, family reunifications, investments in productive projects and creation of new family nuclei.

At the meeting there was also a service fair where the Unit provided guidance on the institutional offer, information on its integral reparation process, delivery of letters of dignification as a measure of satisfaction, offer of educational services for young people, socialization of information for the adequate investment of resources and notification of the status of inclusion in the Single Victim Registry.

Many of them have reached the age of majority and are in transit for the restoration of their rights led by the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF), and the process of social and economic reintegration by the Agency for the Reincorporation and Standardization.

CAMINO DIFERENCIAL DE VIDA is a program coordinated by the Presidential Council for Human Rights to assist adolescents who were handed over by the FARC in which the ICBF participates, for the restoration of rights, ARN, for social and economic reincorporation and the  Victims Unit in matters of integral reparation as a responsibility not only from their missionary status as an institution, but as a government policy based on the provisions of the final agreement for the end of conflict and the construction of a stable and lasting peace.

  • · 89% of these adolescents and young people valued have been included in the victimizing event of the connection of children and adolescents to activities related to armed groups, of which 78% have benefited from Humanitarian Aid and 70% have received his compensation.

  • · 20% have participated in the strategy of individual accompaniment to the adequate investment of resources "I decide"
