Leaders of LGTBI victims in Colombia elaborated an agenda to have a political impact in the development plans of the next local representatives, as local elections will take place in October. This served as a conclusion to the ‘First National Encounter of representatives of lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual, and intersex victims in the departmental participation roundtables’, which took place in Barranquilla (Atlántico department), with the support of the Victims Unit and social organizations Caribe Afirmativo, Colombia Diversa, and Fundación Santamaría.

According to Eucaris Salas, leader in the National Participation Roundtable of Victims, they agreed to elaborate a cartography with the stories and events that affected this population, as a contribution to historical memory. Moreover, a group will support communication with different entities, so as they can have greater influence on territorial plans, after the elections take place.

Around 1,700 victims included in the Sole Registry of Victims acknowledged themselves as being part of the LGTBI social sector. They have mainly suffered from forced displacement, threats, murder, and sexual violence, especially in the departments of Antioquia, Bogotá, Bolívar, Córdoba, and Valle del Cauca. Up to 1,028 have already received economic compensation as a form of reparation.
