“Historical memory with victims of sexual violence. Conceptual and methodological approach”
The book "Historical Memory with Victims of Sexual Violence" was launched at the facilities of the Victims Unit.
With the presence of officials from different government entities, the conversation was held in which the National Center for Historical Memory, the Victims Unit and the Presidential Counseling for Women's Equity, presented the conceptual and methodological approach "Memory Historical with Victims of Sexual Violence”.
The publication, developed by the National Center for Historical Memory, was made possible by the support of UN Women and the Swedish Embassy, offering tools to achieve historical memory work (with victims of sexual violence), whose premise is to dignify the victims, contribute to the symbolic reparation of damage caused and offer society a complex interpretation of its meanings.
This launch is part of the actions that the three entities mentioned above have been developing to commemorate the National Day for the Dignity of Women Victims of Sexual Violence on the occasion of the Conflict.
Both the Victims Unit and the Historical Memory Center highlighted the importance of this report, which will serve as a methodological guide and according to Leonardo Montenegro, coordinator of the Unit's differential and gender focus group, has three components: one of fundamentals conceptual on sexual violence, a second part that provides tools for working with victims in the reconstruction of memory and a third part that is a care guide for researchers working with historical memory.
