The Unit for Victims joins the Week for Peace, in Nariño
From September 6 to 14, 2020, the programming led by the Catholic Church in Colombia takes place, with talks, exhibitions of pedagogical experiences, family meetings, dialogues on rights, Eucharists and spaces for reflection.
The Victims Unit in Nariño, the Government of Nariño, the National Network of Citizen Initiatives for Peace and Against War (Redepaz), the Diocese of Pasto, the Mayor's Office of Pasto and the Ombudsman's Office, among others, are the entities and institutions that support and are an active part of the Week for Peace, having the objective and commitment to turn this department into a territory for life and peace.
The territorial director of the Unit, William Pinzón Fernández, indicated that "as an entity we join the different spaces to remind the population that our mission is aimed at peace through comprehensive reparation." "For this reason we reiterate our commitment to assistance, attention to the victims and in the accompaniment of these activities that guarantee psychosocial reparation measures”, he added.
The Week for Peace, which has been commemorated for 33 consecutive years in Colombia and 23 years in Nariño, is considered one of the most important events of citizen participation in search of peace building, led by the Colombian Episcopal Conference. On the agenda of this event, activities such as talks, exhibitions of pedagogical experiences, family meetings, declarations, dialogues on rights, Eucharists and spaces for reflection that will be developed through digital platforms are highlighted.
The celebration of Week for Peace also includes two face-to-face activities: an environmental minga and a tree planting day.
