Through the Facebook platform, organizations such as May 16 Collective, the Association of Relatives of the Disappeared Detainees (Asfaddes), Diakonia, the National Movement of Victims of State Crimes (Movice) and the Human Rights Workers' Space , in coordination with entities such as the Truth Commission, the Unit for the Search of Persons Considered Missing Persons and the Victims Unit, will commemorate the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances this Sunday, August 30.

The day will last three hours and will begin at 9 in the morning with a Eucharist and later a discussion will take place under the slogan "Following the trail of those who are not ... but have not left".

During the discussion, the participants will include, among other people, Gloria Gómez, Asfaddes national coordinator; Santiago Camargo, member of Magdalena Medio Peace and Development Program; Tito Gaitán, a member of Minga organization, and Ramón Rodríguez Andrade, general director of the Victims Unit.

“One of the significant objectives in the framework of this commemoration is to pay tribute to the family seekers here in the Magdalena Medio region and specifically in the city of Barrancabermeja; it is a recognition for these women and men, who are mostly elderly and some are even sick, but who have not given up in the search for their loved ones, "said Amparo Chicué Cristancho, director of the Unit for Victims in Magdalena Medio.

"With the event we also want to rescue, revive, and always keep in mind the memory of the people who have suffered the scourge of enforced disappearance", the official concluded.
