SNARIV entities, officials and contractors of the Victims Unit received orientation to avoid fraud in the department.
The Unit for Victims in Magdalena made a virtual talk about the anti-fraud campaign "Don't believe everything you hear"
The seminar sought to raise awareness about criminal, fiscal and disciplinary responsibility; information security, threats and good practices; presentation of the investigation and protection against fraud group, functions, modus operandi, and access channels of the Legal Advisory Office of the Victims Unit.
"I want to highlight the importance of these talks at the departmental level to avoid fraud and deceit to the victims who have been presenting themselves in recent years, in order to stop all irregularities that may occur in the territory", said the territorial director of the Unit for the Victims in Magdalena, Jair Diazgranados.
The objective of the conference was to provide guidance to SNARIV entities, as well as to officials and contractors who are part of the Victims Unit, to avoid fraud and so that victims are not deceived by people who offer to manage procedures before the entity.
According to the statistics in the department of Magdalena, a total of 469 complaints have been received from the history of 2013 to July 31, 2020, of which 164 complaints have been filed with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation for the irregularities presented in the district Santa Marta (57) and the municipalities of Tenerife (52), Fundación (15), Pivijay (6), Plato (6), Ciénaga (6), Pueblo Viejo (5), Santa Bárbara de Pinto (3), Aracataca (39), Remolino (2), Sitionuevo (2), Zona Bananera (2), Algarrobo (1), Cerro de San Antonio (1), Chibolo (1), El Banco (1) and El Piñón (1).
Similarly, in the department after analyzing each case, 192 complaints have been closed by means of minutes and 113 are in the evidentiary stage, the causes established by the AsThe legal authorities are: absence in the event, the event does not constitute a crime, the absence of the identification of the alleged initiate, the absence of information about the event, the event already reported and the prescription of crime.
Among the irregularities are false testimony, procedural fraud, fraud in the Single Victims Registry, and subsidy fraud, among others.
Regarding the 6.177 excluded declarations, 82% (5,036) are concentrated in two of the municipalities of the Magdalena department with the highest number of exclusions: Santa Marta (4.989) and Fundación (47), the process is under investigation and compilation of evidential materials.
