Unity for Victims joins the “Future Zones- Zonas Futuras” program that seeks to transform the regions that were most affected by violence.

The President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, launched the Future Zones, Building, Transforming and Preserving ’in the municipality of Tumaco.

The Victims Unit joined the national project called, 'Future Zones, Building, Transforming and Preserving' which was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez in the municipality of Tumaco, the initiative seeks to transform the regions most affected by violence, crime and poverty; leading to the prioritized territories, the provision of social services, such as: education, health, justice among others.

The general director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez, referred to the participation of the entity in this project “the future Zones are important because they achieve articulation between all entities to serve the Colombian people most affected by various situations. We in these 5 chosen areas will be willing to articulate to benefit the victims present in these municipalities and see what their needs are to cover them according to the comprehensive care and repair route, as we have done with the PDT Territorial Development Projects".

In addition, the 'Future Zones, Building, Transforming and Preserving' compromise the participation of all government institutions, to achieve territorial control, guarantee the rights of citizens and reach the substitution of illicit economies by law, working on the preservation enviroment.

These areas will be located in the territories of Bajo Cauca, southern Córdoba, Catatumbo, Arauca, Nariñense Pacific and the National Natural Parks of Chiribiquete, Sierra de La Macarena, Catatumbo Barí, Nudo de Paramillo and Sanquianga.

On the day, the Head of State was accompanied by the Mayor of Tumaco, Julio César Rivera, the Director of the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), Susana Correa, the Minister of Agriculture, Andrés Valencia; the High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos; and Governor Nariño, Camilo Romero, among others.
