Ramón Alberto Rodríguez Andrade, director of the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to Victims, assured that the entity is assisting the families of victims of the violent events that occurred in recent days in various regions of the country and that it will strengthen the psychosocial team to accompany family members.

The director of the Unit assured that from the moment the events occurred "we are coordinating with the municipal administrations to advance care for those affected by these events."

"The contingency plan was activated and there is a strategy through the Prevention Subdirectorate that has to do with the construction of the instrument that allows municipal administrations to have how to deal with an emergency, in the case of homicides and Massive displacement events that have occurred throughout the territory. With this tool, through the Transitional Justice Committee, all entities that are part of the care system act, "he added.

“In the specific case of Samaniego (Nariño), at the request of the President of the Republic and of the communities, we will accompany families with psychosocial care. Starting this week, the Nariño territorial directorate will accompany the families in person, we had been 15 days before these unfortunate events occurred, we were there serving the community, delivering letters of compensation, socializing the public policy of victims in the municipality of Samaniego and now we return with the strategy of emotional recovery for the families of the victims of homicides”, added the official.

Ramón Rodríguez explained what the emotional recovery strategy consists of: “The first step was to publicize the route of care, assistance and reparation, which begins with the taking of a statement by the Public Ministry of the events that occurred, then comes psychosocial accompaniment that has four phases”.

“We are going to strengthen our teams to be able to reach the direct and indirect relatives of these homicides, since a whole psychosocial process has to be carried out in order to overcome the los of the loved one, but also direct them to the routes that the entity has through Law 1448 for the attention of this fact”, he indicated.

Faced with what happened in the last hours in the department of Antioquia where the homicide of three people was registered, the director of the Victims Unit said that the entity advances the pertinent approaches with the municipal administrations to coordinate the pertinent actions.

“What happened in Arauca, there is our territorial leadership doing the accompaniment; in Cauca, our territorial director was also with the professionals. The entity has 54 professionals in the territory that allow us to carry out prevention exercises, coordinated with the Ministry of the Interior, but also allow us to propose scenarios through the subcommittees of prevention, protection and guarantees of non-repetition, to prevent events such as the 45 events that have occurred this year", Rodriguez said.

According to the official, in these massive events, the Unit has assisted approximately 15.000 people affected by displacement and confinement in Nariño, Chocó, Cauca, Arauca and Bajo Cauca in Antioquia.
