The goal for the four-year period is to repair half a million victims: Lorena Mesa

This was announced by the deputy director of the Victims Unit, during a discussion with indigenous authorities in Bogotá.

During a meeting to socialize the offer of the State to municipalities that have indigenous territories, held in Bogotá, the deputy director general of the Victims Unit, Lorena Mesa, announced that the entity's goal for this four-year period is to achieve that 510,000 victims are compensated, which corresponds to 56% of the victims compensated to date.

With the presence of indigenous mayors and governors, the deputy director also announced that it seeks to close 403 subjects of collective reparation and achieve socio-economic stabilization of returned families.

During this space, Martín Tenganá legal representative of the Movement of Indigenous Authorities of Colombia (AICO), pointed out the importance of having State entities such as Social Prosperity, the Ministry of Labor and the Victims Unit to achieve clarity against the incorporation of public policies in municipal and departmental development plans, especially in relation to victims of conflict.

The director of the Department of Social Prosperity, Susana Correa, indicated that this space allows the Government to be aware of the needs of each municipality, in order to come up with solutions with existing programs. For her part, the deputy director general of the Victims Unit, Lorena Mesa, stated that the entity has many issues tied to territorial entities and that they must be carried out with the good will of the leaders, especially in aspects such as prevention, community and social infrastructure projects, returns and relocations, among others.

Currently, of the indigenous peoples that are part of AICO, there is the subject of collective reparation of the Misak-Guambianos people, with whom progress has been made in the characterization of damages and formulation of the PIRC Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan, and have carried out the following activities:

  • Establishment of agreements against the Action Plan and requested budget to advance in the characterization and formulation (Minga AISO Cauca-2019)
  • Budget allocation for the fulfillment of the proposed actions
  • Holding of the first assembly of authorities of the Misak people
  • Schedule of activities for October with approved commissions and logistics
