In Nariño, 32 Awá families received humanitarian aid
These families from the Ñambi Piedra Verde (Barbacoas) reservation, made up of 108 people, left their homes due to clashes by armed groups in the area.
The Victims Unit delivered humanitarian aid to 32 families from the Ñambi Piedra Verde reservation, jurisdiction of the municipality of Barbacoas, who left their territory after the violent events that occurred on July 28 of this year, in which a minor he was injured and two people were killed.
These families, made up of 108 people belonging to the Awá community, decided to leave the reserve in search of safety and well-being, and they moved to the municipality of Mallama.
Regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid, Nelsy Pai Rodríguez, representative of the community, said that “it is a joy for our entire community because we know what we feel, what we suffer and live in this situation, it is very sad and gives us satisfaction these gestures that have come because we really need them”.
For his part, William Pinzón Fernández, director of the Unit in Nariño, indicated that “we are here as an entity to fulfill our commitment of assistance, supporting and complementing the actions of the municipality and the government. For this reason, in an articulated manner, we have been awaiting their attention and we will continue looking for actions that guarantee their well-being.
The Unit made this delivery in the company of the Government of Nariño, represented by Francisco Cerón, as well as by the Secretary of Government, the mayor and representative of Mallama, fulfilling the commitment to support the victim families with humanitarian aid in this phase of care of the emergency. The aids consist of mats, sets of sheets, blankets, crockery and hygiene items, among others.
Óscar Bastidas, mayor of Mallama, highlighted the inter-institutional work that is being developed in the department for the benefit of the community victim of the armed conflict.
