Most vulnerable victims in Cauca received food aid amid the pandemic
A total of 2,478 food kits were delivered to territorial entities in the department of Cauca, in order to attend to families who are victims of armed conflict in a condition of extreme vulnerability.
In compliance with all the biosecurity protocols established in the face of the health emergency, the Victims Unit provided 26 municipalities in Cauca with food aid for families in a condition of vulnerability due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Dan Harry Sánchez Cobo, territorial director of the Victims Unit in Cauca, "this delivery of food kits was carried out in coordination with territorial entities, representatives of tables for effective participation of victims and municipal representatives, in order to identify the population that was within the Single Registry of Victims and that had a greater condition of vulnerability in the midst of the health emergency. In this way, the Cauca Government is supported in subsidiarity and prevention and care strategies are strengthened in these difficult times that our department is going through”.
The official added that the kits contain more than 30 food units made up of cereals, grains, spaghetti, chocolate, coffee, panela and wheat flour, among other elements, which will guarantee the food security of the survivors of conflict.
For their part, representatives of the Public Ministry who were part of the process, stated that they seek to deliver these kits as soon as possible to the victims of conflict. "We are grateful for this important management that will make it possible to contribute to the well-being of the victims, in the midst of this world crisis that affects the nutritional sustenance of many families", said Karen Viviana Díaz, a person in the municipality of Sotará.
From January to May 2020, the Victims Unit in Cauca has provided humanitarian aid to the 372,000 households with 401,824 money orders, worth $ 241,153 million, for families victims of forced displacement with basic survival shortages.
