Food kits delivered to victim population in Nariño

The Victims Unit joins the measures ordered by the national government, providing humanitarian assistance in kind to no 2,500 families victims of forced displacement in the department.

In the framework of the principles of complementarity and subsidiarity contemplated in Law 1448 of 2011 and Decree 2460 of 2015 and taking into account the situation the country is going through due to the health emergency, the Victims Unit provides humanitarian assistance in kind 2,500 families victims of forced displacement in 20 municipalities of Nariño.

In order to serve the most vulnerable population in the department, the criteria for selecting the beneficiary municipalities were: victimization risk index, municipalities contemplated in early warnings, PDET municipalities, municipalities with returns and relocation processes, municipalities with collective reparation processes, highly receiving municipalities and municipalities contemplated in Auto 620 of 2017.

For William Pinzón Fernández, director of the Unit in Nariño, “it is very important for us as an entity to join the initiatives of the national Government and deliver this humanitarian assistance in kind to the families affected by the armed conflict who need even more at this time of our support as an entity. We reiterate our commitment and in coordination with the municipal mayors, the participation tables and the accompaniment of the Public Ministry, we are reaching the most vulnerable households, which had not received any type of aid”.

To date, food kits have been delivered in 16 of the 20 selected municipalities: Samaniego, Pasto, Policarpa, Leiva, Cumbitara, El Rosario, Taminango, Ipiales, Los Andes, Tumaco, Barbacoas, Francisco Pizarro, Mosquera, Ricaurte, El Charco, Olaya Herrera, Santa Bárbara, La Tola, Roberto Payán and Magüí.

For his part, Jaime David Sánchez, Mayor of Policarpa, thanked this articulation process for the victims of his municipality: “I want to highlight all the support that the municipalities give us, that friendly hand that comes as support in difficult times, that helping hand that reaches the most vulnerable homes of the victims of armed conflict; the Unit has joined to be part of the solution in moments as critical as these", said the president.

Likewise, Yolima Rodríguez, coordinator of the Table of Effective Participation of Victims of Taminango, indicated that "we are extremely pleased that this type of aid reaches our municipalities, especially in these times of crisis, and that both the participation of the Board, in order to get the kits to the people who really need it, in our case, elderly victims who did not include any other benefit benefited”.

In order to carry out the delivery process in a transparent manner, the accompaniment of the Public Ministry was requested, through the municipal offices and as technical secretariats of the Participation tables.
